Words from Jesus in the New Testament

Here are several verses that I had long ago written down on small pieces of paper and clipped together, to display one on top of the stack as I chose.  These verses are all direct quotes from Jesus in the New Testament.  I have found that depending on the mood I am in, these verses have really helped me a lot in everyday life.  I hope they will do the same for you.  Without any further ado, here they are, listed in order of presentation in the King James Version:

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day _is_ the evil thereof." - Mt. 6:34

"For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath." - Mt. 13:12

"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." - Mt. 21:22

"If thou canst believe, all things _are_ possible to him that believeth." - Mk. 9:23

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive _them_, and ye shall have _them_." - Mk. 11:24

"Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have." - Lk. 8:18

"And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

"For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

"But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." - Lk. 12:29,30,31

"In your patience possess ye your souls." - Lk. 21:19

"Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." - Lk. 21:33

Peace to All

Prayers

O Lord, our Heavenly Father,

Thank you again for letting us live through another day.

Thank you for all the blessings you bestowed upon us.

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.

Mt.6:9-13

O Great Spirit,

Whose Voice I hear in the winds

And whose Breath gives life to the world: hear me!

I come to you as one of your many children.

I am small and weak.

I need your strength and your wisdom.

May I walk in beauty.

Make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things that you have made

And my ears sharp to hear your Voice.

Make me wise

So that I may know the things you have taught your children:

The lessons you've hidden in every leaf and rock.

Make me strong so that not to be superior to my brothers,

But to be able to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.

Make me ever ready to come to you with straight eyes,

So that when life fades as the fading sunset,

My spirit may come to you without shame.

-- Prayer spoken by Chief Dan George, from "War Against the Indians," -- TBS, 1992

May the glory of God shine down on us from heaven,

And make our days seem brighter.

May the Great Spirit watch over us

And keep us from harm.

Lord, use us as You will,

Helping ones in need

Wherever they may be.

Make us instruments of

Your mercy and everlasting peace.

Give us the strength and the wisdom

To use those most precious gifts

You've blessed each of us with, as You will.

For we ask it all in Jesus' blessed and most holy Name,

Amen.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Savior of the Universe,

Thank you for your guiding light and peaceful ways.

May the world reflect your lovingkindness and merciful deeds.

Keep me safe and secure in your eternal love and shelter.

Let me show generosity and good will unto all I meet,

Knowing that every human is in need of something.

Keep me whole in your loving arms.

Let your light shine through me,

Onto all I see.

I ask it all in Jesus' name,

Amen

Thank you for the birds that sing,

Thank you Lord for everything!
